David Gurney

Born and raised in Southern California, David has called the Central Coast his home since 1988. After receiving his Master of Arts degree from Cal State Fullerton, he first set up his studio in Lake Elsinore, California, where his work was displayed in several Los Angeles and Laguna Beach Galleries.

Today, working from his studio situated in his expansive garden on the Nipomo Mesa, David creates the truly unique ceramic pieces that are his trademark. He draws inspiration for his work from his garden and the rural setting that surrounds his home.

Brightly colored bowls, vases and cups with a distinct mexican flavor predominate David’s work. Using fine terra cota clay, painted with underglazes, he carefully details his scenes or tells a story on each of his one of a kind pieces. Those that collect David’s work are rapidly growing in number, and Hands Gallery is delighted to be one of the few places one can find this incredible artist’s work.
